Latta Named A Troy University 2025 Alumni Of Year

Mobile Bar Association member and Past-President Forrest Latta has been named one of Troy University’s four Alumni of the Year for 2025. This recognition—drawn from more than 172,000 Troy alumni among 50 states and 52 foreign countries—is based on his service to the university and the broader community, professional achievement and personal integrity. Latta attended Troy on a full scholarship as a Governor of Alabama Boys’ State. While there, he participated in the Student Government Association and Delta Chi fraternity. In his junior year, he was one of only two “Oxford Scholars” chosen to spend a summer at Oxford University in the U.K. He graduated from Troy in 1980, cum laude, with a BS in English and a full scholarship to Cumberland Law School. Latta gives back as a member of Troy’s Board of Trustees, and supports the Troy Annual Fund. In 1985, he co-founded Troy’s first chartered alumni chapter, Southwest Alabama Chapter). Today, Troy has 42 chartered alumni chapters, which use the charter drafted by Forrest 40 years ago.
