Alabama Retail Association Honors Foley Fish Co

In a recent in-store presentation, the Alabama Retail Association presented Foley Fish Co. with an Alabama Centennial Retailer award as the company celebrates 101 years in 2022. The business received a bronze plaque to place outside its store and a framed certificate for display inside. Baldwin County’s longest operating fresh seafood market, it was founded in Downtown Foley in 1921 by John Hesse. Today, it’s owned by Tracy Kruse, who purchased the company in 1999 from the second owners, Eddie and Peggy Hesse. While the product offerings of the well-known Foley business have changed since its opening a century ago, its name, appearance and hometown feel have stayed the same. It has always operated in the same location at 321 South McKenzie Street.
