Birdfest Announced

SPANISH FORT, Ala. — The 18th Annual Alabama Coastal BirdFest is being held along the Alabama Gulf Coast on September 28-October 1. Organizer South Alabama Land Trust expects thousands of people from across North America to attend. The schedule includes a variety of cruises, walks and workshops. A free Bird and Conservation Expo will be held at the event’s headquarters, 5 Rivers Delta Resource Center in Spanish Fort, on October 1. The expo will highlight other local nonprofits and environmental agencies, hands-on activities and short boat cruises led by a junior birder. Since 2004, BirdFest has raised more than $100,000 through sponsorships to help preserve and protect vital coastal bird and wildlife habitat and increase awareness of the biological diversity of the Alabama Gulf Coast.
